Bakisimbatronics
Building upon this heritage of sound , Maganda Shakul created Bakisimbatronics as a way to reconnect younger generations with the essence of Buganda’s rhythm while embracing the innovations of modern sound. The genre intertwines electronic elements, deeply layered percussion loops, rhythmic melodies, and radiant male and female vocals recorded from rural Ugandan communities. Bakisimbatronics is not merely a new genre, it is a musical conversation between past and future, between ancestral drumbeats and modern frequencies. Maganda Shakul has been actively creating awareness of this new genre, recently producing a 1-hour Bakisimbatronics mix that deconstructs Bakisimba folk music from the 1980s to 1990s. This mix has been featured on international radio platforms such as NTS Radio (UK), Oroko Radio (Ghana), and Callshop Radio (Germany) marking an important step in bringing the sound of Buganda to global audiences.
